“If you can’t beat the weather, join it at Winterfest!”

Based on fantastic turnout these past couple years, the Winterfest committee has decided to build Winterfest to be even more fun this year!

Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 marks the six annual McLeod for Tomorrow Winterfest event at the McLeod County Fairgrounds. The event will begin at 10am, and all are welcomed to stop by and enjoy the fun any time until 4pm. Admission is free, and food and beverages are available for a nominal cost, benefiting McLeod for Tomorrow events and leadership program.

New attractions for 2018 include the MN Department of Natural Resources with their taxidermy bears, deer, large displays of antlers and other animals and birds which were taken illegally and then confiscated by the DNR.   This attraction is to communicate the importance of our wildlife and not to poach animals.    Another new possible attraction for 2018, is we are working with a major sports celebrity to make an appearance at our event.    While we have not finalized the agreement, we are hopeful they will be joining us.

Returning for 2018 are:  The U of M Raptor Center with their beautiful Raptors, Ruth Kinkade and her alpacas from Abbey Alpacas, Ridgewater’s race car simulation experience, a snow raceway course for remote-control vehicles (bring your own and try your skill!), and a chance to meet the Frozen characters! Our family-oriented event once again includes attractions such as a dog sled team providing rides around the fairgrounds, a snow MOUNTAIN for climbing fun, snowmobile rides, face painting, snow shoes, sledding hill, and an ice rink for those bringing their own skates or boots. This event proves just how fun winter can be, regardless of the temperature outside or snow on the ground.

McLeod for Tomorrow is always looking for volunteers to assist with final day preparations. If you are interested in assisting with time, effort and/or prize donations, please contact us at MFT501c3@gmail.com
