Board and Staff

Our Board

Meet the McLeod For Tomorrow Board of Directors!  We are proud to have board members from several different cities and industries in McLeod County. Joining the board of McLeod For Tomorrow is a meaningful way to serve your community and McLeod County. We currently have board openings, and would love to have new local leaders join our team!  The time commitment for a McLeod For Tomorrow Board Member is about 5-8 hours per month (monthly full board meetings, periodic committee meetings, individual tasks)
with a term of 3 years, and the option to serve up to 3 consecutive terms. Learn more about joining the McLeod For Tomorrow Board of Directors.

Matt Troska (Chair), Glencoe
Matt Troska is a lifelong resident of Glencoe. Matt attended the McLeod For Tomorrow Leadership Program in 2011-2012. He joined our board of directors in 2017 and was elected chair in 2019. Matt has been employed with McLeod County for nearly 20 years and currently holds the role of IT Manager.

Andrea Matheny (Vice Chair), Brownton
Andrea is currently serving as Vice chair for the board. She works for McLeod County in the Human Resources department. Andrea attended the McLeod For Tomorrow Leadership Program in 2021-2022. She serves on the Brownton City council, which she ran for after the completion of the McLeod For Tomorrow program.

She lives in Brownton and is very active in the town’s community. Andrea has been a part of the MFT board since the Spring of 2023 and values the mission of McLeod For Tomorrow.

Kari Kunkel (Treasurer), Glencoe
Kari Kunkel is an alumna of the McLeod for Tomorrow Program, class of 2017 and serves as the Board Treasurer. She is passionate about the program and says, “The skills learned are twofold. They are brought back to their employer to improve work performance, and these skills are also dispersed into the communities as participants get involved in committees, boards, and causes they care about personally. It’s a wonderful duo, and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Kari lives in Glencoe with her husband and two kiddos. She loves working for MidCountry Bank as a business cash management specialist. Her favorite season is summer, which she enjoys by spending time at the pool, lake, and on her family’s double-decker pontoon. Yes, you read that right, double-decker! Life is good!

Lisa Waller-Maresh (Secretary), Glencoe
Lisa is currently serving as board secretary. She has lived in McLeod County her entire life. She has been employed with McLeod County Health & Human Services for almost 32 years and been part of the child support team for 28 of those years. Lisa says that each day brings something new even after all these years!

Lisa attended the McLeod For Tomorrow Leadership Program in 2021-2022. She was especially impressed with all the businesses and services we have in McLeod County. The program was a great learning experience.
Lisa graduated from Brownton High School and from Ridgewater College in Hutchinson. She currently resides in Glencoe with her husband and 2 children (and a dog, that one of the children thought was a good idea to bring home after returning from college). Her hobbies include
walking, reading and traveling.

Justin Opheim, Glencoe
Justin Opheim is our newest member of the Mcleod For Tomorrow Board. A recent transplant, Justin grew up in Minneapolis but has lived in North Suburbs and now resides right here in Glencoe since 2021. Justin brings a wealth of knowledge with a background in Banking, Project Coordination, the nonprofit sector, and has an educational background in Accounting and in Business.

Jocelynn Buckentin, Brownton
Jocelynn Buckentin is a recent graduate of the McLeod for Tomorrow program and was inspired to join the board because she believes strongly in the mission of connecting individuals and developing leadership skills within our community. Jocelynn has lived and worked in McLeod County for the past 14 years as both a teacher and technology innovation specialist, and currently works for Hutchinson Public Schools. She lives outside of Brownton on her husband Matt’s family farm with their two children, Jackson (12) and Evelyn (10.) Jocelynn teaches a career exploration class at Hutchinson High School in their TigerPath program, and this inspired her to learn more about the unique opportunities that exist within the county. She enjoys camping, traveling, and hauling her children to their various activities.
